Bio
Praised for her sophisticated virtuosity and captivating performances, pianist Darya Tchaikovsky successfully combines the fundamentals of the Russian piano tradition with a strong musical individuality in her playing.
Darya made her debut in her hometown Minsk at the age of 12 with the Belarusian State Chamber orchestra, playing Bach’s d-minor concerto. Since then she has appeared regularly as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe with a wide-ranging repertoire including many world premieres by contemporary composers.
Darya began her musical journey at the age of 4 and at the age of 7 she played her first solo recital, performing Beethoven’s Pathetique Sonata among other works. Early discovered by renowned professors from Minsk and Moscow, she entered the National College of Music in her hometown at the age of 10. During her school years Darya won numerous prizes and awards and as a part of the prestigious Young Artists Concert Series she performed several times as a soloist with the Belarusian State Symphony orchestra.
At the age of 17 she moved to France to pursue her studies at Conservatoire National de Angers and later at the CNSM de Lyon where she studied with Hervé N’Kaoua and Thierry Rosbach. In the summer of 2016 she was invited to participate in the Edwin Fischer Academy with Paul Lewis in Potsdam and in the Chigiana Academy in Siena, with Lilya Zilberstein. In 2017 she attended the Pablo Casals Festival Academy in Prades under the mentorship of Silke Avenhaus, and Jiri Hlinka Academy in Bergen with Leif Ove Andsnes and Christian Ihle Hadland. In 2018 she joined the piano accompaniment team of the Pablo Casals Festival.
